vision twenty-ten
The Parish Buildings Committee report entitled vision twenty-ten was launched at the 2009 Annual Parochial Church Meeting
![]() | Three good pieces of newsFernhurst – We have sold Fernhurst and the new occupants are now in residence. The Parish office is being re-sited for a few months, to the Vicarage, whilst the new Parish Centre is built. Some of you will have noticed that we have re-fenced Fernhurst and in so doing have retained a portion of Fernhurst garden for the Church’s use. There will be a new door made from P & J Hall into this area, so we can enjoy some outside fellowship at different events and meet Ofsted’s needs for a safe play area for the playgroup. Ss. Philip & James side extension – We have gained planning permission to build a small side extension to P&J which will provide a small meeting area, disabled access (including toilet) through to the hall and a small kitchenette to allow the making of tea/coffee for any events that are taking place in the church, when the hall is also in use. A glass wall will enable children and others to see what is going on in the main church without causing noise disturbance. |
Fleet Parish Community Centre – We have gained planning permission to demolish the existing Meeting Room at All Saints Church and build our new Parish Community Centre. This will also house the Parish Office. Sometime in June we will begin by demolishing the existing building, taking down one or two trees, partly on safety grounds, and then starting to place the new structure on site. You may have seen elsewhere in the magazine an advert re. gravestones in the churchyard – the ones that affect the new building and the small car park that will be in front of the building will be taken away, once we make sure any relatives have been contacted. It is our intention to place the names of all those affected onto a new plaque and set this in the pathway leading up to the new centre. There will be a small car park for people who are briefly visiting the parish office and/or are disabled.
We hope all will be finished sometime in October but do keep an eye on this magazine and the weekly newsletter for updates. We intend to carry on with some activities that currently are held in the hall – in particular the monthly lunch time concerts and lunches, which will be held in the church.
